Cabinet Cards

Cabinet cards is the term used to describe some oversized trading cards that were available during the late 1800's and early 1900's. These cards were known as "cabinet cards" because of their large size, and because the preferred method of displaying these cards was on curio cabinets. The most popular and widely collected cabinet cards are the Turkey Red (T-3) series. Cabinet cards were originally available to collectors only by a coupon inside a pack of cigarettes which could be redeemed for a single cabinet card. Today, original cabinet cards are scarce and often are very valuable.
