Certificate of Authenticity
A certificate of authenticity (COA) is a document that verifies whether or not an item (usually an autograph) is authentic and legitimate. Collectors must keep in mind that COA's are only as good as the person or business who issues them. Unless a COA is from a reputable authentication company or is notarized, then it might not be a good certificate. Most COA's should share a serial numbered counterfeit-proof hologram that is attached to the item.
