Cut Autographs
A cut autograph is a card that has an autograph inserted into it. The reason for the name "cut autograph" is because the autograph has been cut from a separate signed document and then used to make the sportscard. Most cut autographs feature athletes who are deceased and therefore the only way to get their signatures is from old documents such as old contracts, personal letters, book pages, and cancelled checks.
